Early January 2018, VAR Staffing wrote a short blog on the most predictable question posed to recruiting companies; “How long will it take to fill this position?”
There are 6 main points that directly influence the answer to that important question, and you can review them again if interested.
What we did not publish was the actual number of days it took to successfully fill the positions our clients requested technical recruiting assistance. So, we went back and calculated the actual numbers for 2016, 2017, and 2018 (year to date).
The results did not surprise us and is just another metric illustrating the challenges both recruiting firms and hiring companies are experiencing in identifying, interviewing, and hiring quality candidates. The data is calculated based on the original date VAR Staffing received an active opening, to the time the candidate started their new job. Below is the data:
2016 – 45.7 average days to fill
2017 – 50.7 average days to fill
2018 – 63.75 average days to fill (year to day through June, 2018)
The trend is clear: as the unemployment rate continues to drop it is taking longer for clients to fill active openings.
