The need for talented IT professionals is growing at an exceptional rate. As more businesses are adopting the latest technologies and new innovations are constantly hitting the market, the skills gap continues to expand and the fight over the cream of the crop gets more intense. Nowhere is this easier to see than by looking to the hiring and salary trends of the market.
According to a report from Janco Associates and eJobDescriptions.com, salaries and the rate of hiring for IT personnel are on the upswing. These two factors have been on the rise in most North American metro areas.
"Salaries are up 1.98 percent for IT pros in the past 12 months and the big winners are CIO[s] – especially those in larger enterprises," said Janco CEO Victor Janulaitis during an interview with Channel Partners Online. "Our study also found that the average tenure for CIOs has moved up to four years, three months from four years, 2 months last [year] at this time."
The survey included data from over 1,000 large and mid-sized organizations captured during the last quarter of 2012. From the responses, the average compensation of all IT pros rose from $77,773 in January 2012 to $79,312 in January 2013. These numbers reach levels last seen in early 2008, prior to the recession.
Money might be one of the easiest ways to lure top talent, however, IT Principals still need to find the desired professionals and resources. VARs and MSPs can handle the dirty work of acquiring impactful talent with the help of VAR Staffing, and become valuable partners to any company in the IT Channel.
