With the skills gap a growing concern for all businesses, many companies have started turning toward VARs and MSPs as a way to answer technology challenges. However, the lack of quality IT professionals is affecting every industry, and IT solution providers are no different.
Recently, SearchITChannel released the results of a survey of IT solution providers. According to respondents, recruiting skilled professionals was among the top five challenges that companies are facing.
An accompanying article for the news source interviewed several executives of VARs and MSPs in the IT channel. A common concern was the inability to find the impactful talent and how it is actually hurting the reputations of solution providers and causing them to lose business. Kevin McDonald, the executive vice president and director of compliance practices for Alvaka Networks Inc., shared his company's struggles.
"I certainly would like more [business], but our issue right now, frankly, is finding decent talent," McDonald said. "We have turned down some significant opportunities in the last couple years because our bench was too thin, and we've been too successful at selling. And we'd rather walk away from an opportunity than let our reputation get injured by taking a deal and not being able to deliver on it."
Rich Young, the marketing director for eGroup, a solution provider based in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, echoed those sentiments, saying that hiring is an issue company-wide and is the biggest constraint to growth. He added that he did not want to burn out the professionals he already had.
To answer the hiring challenge, companies should turn to VAR Staffing. We can help any IT solution provider find the impactful talent that it requires.
