With each new tech innovation that hits the market, a new niche skill set is created that professionals in the IT channel must scramble to learn. Over the last few years, tablets, the cloud and mobile applications have fallen into this category. But there is another innovation that has hit the market and is changing enterprise IT hiring: big data.
Recently, icrunchdata released the results of what it calls the first ever index that tracks job statistics and job trends in "hyper growth niche" categories. According to the numbers, big data and analytics will lead the way, producing 4 million new jobs globally by 2015. Over the last three years, the company has seen a 63 percent jump in big data positions and there are currently 600,000 jobs in the market.
Company spokesman Todd Nevins spoke with Information-Management about the results of the study and how the right talent will make a difference.
"The hype is through the roof, but I'm not sure when it will turn," he said. "We aren't seeing any signs of a slowdown on our side from companies recruiting big data talent due to the massive opportunities in their data. We don't expect to see any pullback in the foreseeable future as long as the ROI continues to exceed the expense of finding, recruiting and retaining big data talent."
Big data is one of the many new innovations that are changing the IT landscape. Business owners are turning toward VARs and MSPs more often to meet the challenge of implementing the technology quickly. Solution providers that have partnered with VAR Staffing can be sure to offer the impactful talent that enterprise decision-makers desire.
