As this blog covered a few weeks ago, October is National Cyber Security Month. This is a time when the IT channel should take a step back and examine the current state of cyber warfare and how it is affecting the current business landscape.
In honor of the increased awareness, TEKsystems released the results of a survey of IT and business leaders that focused on how well companies are addressing the challenges of cyber security. The biggest takeaway is that organizations are struggling to keep up because of the growing skills gap.
According to the numbers, 50 percent of respondents believe that the lack of quality security professionals is reaching a point where companies are exposing themselves to potential risk. This is on top of only 15 percent feeling confident that their company has the security-related skill sets needed to meet current threats while less than 20 percent believe their organization has appropriated their internal resources in a proper way to identify and combat improper information security protocols.
The reason behind this lack of IT talent is the evolution of the threats that are on the market. Over 60 percent of respondents feel the scope and complexity of IT security is growing, which makes it more complicated to keep pace.
Every organization needs to have cyber security on the mind and ensure they have systems and professionals in place to combat any potential problems. IT solution providers can become a valuable asset to meet these challenges. VAR Staffing identifies and recruits the impactful talent that organizations need to remain safe.
