In any arena where there is fierce competition to acquire the top talent, companies are going to start shelling out more money to try and acquire them. The IT channel is no different and as the skills gap grows, the compensation required to entice and retain impactful professionals becomes even more of a determining factor of success.
According to an IT Pay and Compensation Survey that focused on 2012 and forecasts for 2013, 53 percent of IT professionals received a pay increase in 2012. On top of that, 38 percent believe they will receive a bonus and 57 percent believe they will receive a pay rise by the end of 2013.
It is easy to understand why tech employees feel this way. They are in high demand and if they are not getting the compensation they desire at one company, they can try to find it with another.
"Over three-quarters of IT professionals are looking to move jobs, with a notable proportion of these hoping to change roles within the next three months," the report reads. "Career progression is the main reason cited, although 32 percent stated a pay rise or change in compensation package as the main motivation for moving jobs."
In many cases, this is making the role of IT solution providers more important. Instead of trying to juggle the needs of multiple professionals at once, outsourcing to a VAR or MSP can guarantee technology needs are met. VAR Staffing identifies and recruits the impactful talent that solution providers need to answer any IT challenge.
