Recently, AMI-Partners released the results of a study that examined buying trends around the globe for 2013 and forecast what the future could hold. One of the biggest takeaways is the influence of mobile and cloud adoption, especially in the small and midsized business (SMB) landscape.
Over the next five years, these systems will experience an increase in adoption from 30 percent in 2013 to 45 percent. The numbers will be even more dramatic for individual devices, like the tablet, which is projected to increase in adoption by 50 percent just in 2014.
"Mobility-related investments have emerged as fast-growing areas in terms of adoption and investments, driven by the spiraling rise in tablet and smartphone shipments and increase in data plan," Dev Chakravarty, Research Manager at AMI India, said in the report.
He went on to say that mobile device shipments are already outpacing traditional PCs in some markets and are on pace to eclipse 70 percent of hardware shipments after five years. Currently it makes up 45 percent.
