When it comes to the IT channel, the idea of outsourcing takes on a couple different meanings. There is still the thought this means sending jobs to other countries as a way to save a buck. However, as the importance of technology grows and evolves quickly, local VARs and MSPs are becoming reliable resources that are being leaned on for success.
A recent article from CIO Magazine attempted to nail down the IT outsourcing trends that will play a role in 2014. To do this, the news source spoke with several "outsourcing observers" to discuss the current lay of the land and how it could change over the next 12 months.
Many of the areas talked about encompass trends that are already being felt. This includes things like hybrid offshoring, service integration, strengthening cloud support and lower costs. There were also new topics of conversation, lead by the implementation of robot-like technology.
"The rise of smart machines will have a radical effect on the IT and outsourcing environments," says Jonathan Crane, chief commercial officer for IPsoft. "What is still unclear is what either of these industries will look like in the end. Will these tumultuous changes have a lasting effect? Could this be the beginning of the end of the labor arbitrage era?"
While it is too early to be afraid that "Skynet" is imminent, this does show that the technology landscape is changing dramatically. Quality IT service providers are taking on an ever growing important role with end users they support. Smart service providers have partnered with VAR Staffing to identify and recruit dynamic IT professionals.
