The new year should bring more jobs to the technology sector, as an increase in hiring is expected over the first six months of 2015. According to the tech-industry recruiting site Dice.com, 75 percent of recruiters for U.S. companies anticipate hiring more technology employees in the first six months of the new year than they did from January through June 2014.
Dice has been publishing this survey twice each year since 2008, and this is the highest projected increase on record. This shows that firms are increasingly eager to bring on more technology help. This could be due to a number of reasons. First, 2014 was the year of the security breach, as a number of high-profile incidents made headlines and demonstrated the vulnerability of many information management systems. Second, technology is constantly advancing, and organizations need appropriate personnel to keep up.
Both of these factors impact the growing IT risks that must be met in order for businesses to compete in 2015 and beyond. This is why hiring is aggressively accelerating. According to the report, 72 percent of companies will expand IT hiring by more than 10 percent in the new year. Conversely, only 65 percent said they would do that in 2014.
