From established corporations to startups, the tech industry continues to be a hotbed of innovation. Apart from the reward of contributing to an industry that changes the way people live and interact, tech professionals also enjoy some of the highest median salaries in the world. According to a new survey by Glassdoor, a platform that evaluates employers by a series of metrics, tech jobs account for 14 of the 25 highest-paid jobs in need of candidates.
Glassdoor compiled the list using reported salary information from users based on the following criteria:
"For a job title to be considered for Glassdoor's Highest Paying Jobs In Demand report, job titles must receive at least 75 salary reports shared by U.S.-based employees over the past year (1/26/14 – 1/25/15)," the report explains. "Of the job titles that meet the salary criteria, they must also be in the top 50th percentile for number of job openings per job title to qualify for this report."
The highest-ranking tech job on the list was "software architect," with a reported base salary of $130,891 and 3,229 openings during the survey period. Software engineers ranked lower on the list with an average base salary of $96,392, but the 99,055 reported openings made their work the most in-demand of the 25 highlighted. IT managers landed in the top 10 with a base salary of $115,642 and 17,161 openings.
